Matt Bellamy confirms Muse will play the West Country in 2019

They are heading to the birth home of J.K. Rowling, Portishead, Banksy and, of course, Noel Edmonds.

Matt Bellamy has confirmed that Muse will play Bristol in 2019, after fans feared their tour dates were limited to London and Manchester. The band initially listed Bristol among the cities that they were planning to visit when they hit the road next year as part of their 2019 UK tour plans.

And yet, only shows in London and Manchester were announced. However, Bellamy announced on Instagram today (December 1) that Muse will be playing Bristol’s 27,000 seater Ashton Gate. He also name-checked a few of Bristol’s famous residents, including J.K. Rowling, Cary Grant, Massive Attack, Portishead, Banksy and, well, Noel Edmonds. Dates are yet to be confirmed. Muse had initially responded to disappointed fans over scrapped Bristol gig, teasing they might be headed back to native Devon.

The rock band shot straight to Number One in the UK albums chart with their eighth album ?Simulation Theory? last month. Six of Muse’s eight studio albums have now gone to Number One in the UK, according to the Official Charts Company. Muse’s ?Simulation Theory? videos explained and unpicked: just your average 80s-influenced zombie-vampire VR tech-horror? In a four star review, NME described the record as ?a retreat from the real world and into a Tron-style pastiche of their own adolescence.?
